Alu or carbon frame best for the Bob Yak trail - 10/11/06 06:05 AM

Iam considering buying a new bike. Today i have a aluminium frame, but i dont think its stiff/solid enugh when i travel with my Bob yak trail. I feel its moving to mutch.
Would a carbon frame be more solid?

Hi!

NEVER EVER buy a carbon frame for a touringbike, that material is far to brittle. I would recommend a CrMo steel MTB frame.

I think i keep my old mtb Schwinn mesa alu frame, it has proved to be very strong.

Hi there

the stiffest frame i' ve ever ridden is a GT Zaskar. Why not consider that one? Although i have to admit that mine was manufactured in the US, as nowadays the are welded in Taiwan.
