The waether should not be worse than now, the snow falling limit will be around 2000 m this weekend, raining and snowing most of the day.
So I would be prepared to temps of 0° during the night in the valleys, if you camp on the pass it could be colder. But you might be lucky with sunshine during the whole time, so don`t forget sunprotection as well.
Some gloves for the descents would be fine, as well as a cap.
Enjoy the alps
greetings from Bavaria

hi dcjf

isn't 0°C in the valleys a little pessimistic? After all when it's cold in summertime it's also rainy/cloudy, so temperatures shouldn't drop too much during the night; i think highs would be more affected.
But any Transalp rider should certainly take the winter outfit with him/her, no question about that

Hi,
when you want to go in september to the alps you have to be of course prepared to 0 degrees. Usually (not this year, as it allready snowed a little) the first snowfall is around end of august begining of september, the snow won't rest, but overnight you have to count on 0 degrees on 1400 m, what is especially if you want to make some high passes the height of the valley.

oh, I was thinking an altitude around 700m, that explains the differences
