i am looking for a new wheels for my touring bike (700 x 35 c)

woul anybody sugest me any good brand?

Most sturdy and durable are double walled rims.
Two good brands are Rigida http://www.rigida.com and Mavic http://www.mavic.com
Some worldtravellers have had problems with the rims from mavic (splitting of the wheel around the spokes).

Good tires are produced by Schwalbe followed by Continental (more prone to punctures)

Hi,

I have been told by my fellow dutch worldcyclists that 40 and 48 rims are not sold commercially. You'll have to look for a tandembuilder, they have these rims custum-made for them.
Exal (http://85.10.200.53/exal.be/) sells rims for 40 spokes. They are not depicted on their website but they produce them. Just write an email

Mavic also had a 40 spoke rim but I do not know if it is still being sold.

But why do you need such high numbers of spokes? 36 spokes should be enough to carry the weight of you, the bike and luggage (upto 30kg).
And if you are traveling on bad roads MTB rims would be better...

I definitly agree with Whisky.
think of all the troubles you could have if your40 spoke wheel broke down far away on the road
I peronnaly do not like mavic wheels - I got bad experiences and I know that I am not the only one. I would advise you to use a rigida ZAC 2000 (www.rigida.com) or DT swiss TK 7.1 (http://www.dtswiss.com/index.asp?fuseaction=rims.bikedetail&id=7)

may be you should look after "koga-miyata"

they produce a special 40 spokes rim

but it is very expensive and you also pay the name of the company

i would suggest to try a "sun rims rhino light"
